The Lower Heidelberg Township Volunteer Fire Department is an all volunteer organization operating on donations and fund drives. The 0.18 mill Fire Protection Tax was enacted by the supervisors a few years ago to help supplement the fire company. This tax can only be used for equipment purchases or repairs and building construction. This tax has already made it possible for the volunteers to construct a new engine house and purchase new apparatus. All residents are reminded that this department is their primary fire protection so it should be given their primary support when fund drives are taking place.
